The life of the mind
in the heart of the city
New York ~ June 27 - July 10, 2010
Summer Session 2010
June 27-July 10
The Erasmus Collegiate Summer Program invites you, along with a small number of high school students from around the world, to read and discuss the great works of Western Civilization and apply insights from those works in projects the students present.
For two weeks, teachers and students are partners in pursuing wisdom. While grades are given, the success of the program is gauged by the intensity and confidence with which students respond in discussion and in their presentations and by the joy evident in their learning.
Although the institute is more intellectually demanding than most summer programs, it is not elitist in any way. All students who fulfill the admissions requirements are encouraged to apply. Teachers in the program work individually with the students to help them grow in their ability to discern, reason, imagine, write, and discuss.
If you would like to receive a brochure or if you have any specific questions about the program please complete an online inquiry form or email the director of admissions, Mrs. Emily Corwin, here.
We expect and demand a certain maturity from the students, especially considering we are living in a close-knit community in New York City.
We will accept applications from those students who will be at least sixteen years old by the date they apply to the program. If you are not yet sixteen years old but are interested in attending the Erasmus Summer Program, please feel free to contact Mrs. Corwin in the Admissions Office.
Acknowledgment of receipt of a student’s application will be sent within one week of the Admissions Office receiving the full application. The Admissions Committee’s decision will be made within two weeks after that. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis; that is, we will review applications until space is no longer available.
Cost of the Program: $1395. Price includes tuition, room, board, books and activity and museum fees. Students will need some money for lunch on day trips and for any personal shopping or souvenirs.
